A little history.... 5/19/07 - My wife Kathy noticed a lump on my neck as we were driving home from our son's graduation in Charleston SC. 5/30/07 - Family Dr. appointment (my regular Dr. was on vacation so I saw another)- try some meds to see if it goes away. 6/8/07 - back to Dr., lump still there, try some other stuff 6/19/07 - appointment with my regular family doctor, he orders CAT scan and makes appointment with a surgeon. 6/19 - Had CAT scan 6/21 - Met with surgeon, set date for lump removal 6/22 - Prep work done, EKG, blood work, etc 6/26 - Lump removed, looks like infection, but test results show cancer in the removed lymph node 7/3 - Had PET Scan done, mask for radiaion made and met with oral surgeon 7/4 - Radiologist called and said a "hot spot" was found at the base of the tongue 7/5 - Biopsies taken, 5 teeth pulled 7/9 - biopsies confirm base of the tongue, SCCA/ T-1 cancer 7/10 - Waiting for mouth to heal to start treatment. I am 56 yrs old, non-smoker, work out daily, social drinker.
