Hi, I need some advice, please.
One of my family members was diagnosed with a 4th ventricular brain stem stage 2 cancer. He received 2 rounds of radiation treatment, and due to complications, is now blind.
After the radiation treatment his teeth are starting to become chalk like- basically crumbling when pressure is applied. No decay seen as such- just the bone structure itself seems to be degrading.
We have been told this is not due to the radiation treatment. However, no scans or tests have been done to confirm this statement.
He is only 27 years old. The idea that he will loose all of his teeth and it has been suggested that his jaw might also be effected, is very scary for him.
Can anyone help guide us in a direction to better understand what’s going on, please?
If the radiation did not cause this then what is it?
It has been noted that he does have reduced saliva on one side - but again- they have said this has no impact on his teeth degradation.
