My husband (49 years old with tonsil cancer) finished 7 weeks of daily radiation and three rounds of chemo just about three weeks ago. His mouth sores have gotten a bit better, however his pain in his throat seems to be getter worse. He is on 900 mg Gabapentin daily, as well as an Advil/Tylenol combo. He does not like the Oxycodone. I have read that people tend to start feeling some improvement two weeks post treatment. Is anyone who is on the other side of tonsil cancer treatment able to provide some feedback on when my husband may start to feel a little better?
Thank you!

Many have said the first few weeks after treatment are actually worse than during the treatment so your husband is still in that window of recovery.
just commenting as it tends to be quiet here on the weekends.

Fingers crossed that as we enter his fourth week post treatment, he will start to feel a little more human :-)
Thank you again! Ellen | | | | Joined: Nov 2019 Posts: 6 Member | Member Joined: Nov 2019 Posts: 6 | My husband is finishing treatments this week. I have been told that the 2 weeks post treatment are the hardest. My husband has more mouth pain, thick phlegm and pain with swallowing. Any words of wisdom or insight would be appreciated. I just want him to get on the road to recovery and see improvement. | | |
