Joined: Oct 2019 Posts: 3 | It seems that I have become a poster boy for oral cancer having now been in the OR at Moffitt Cancer Center 6 times. The most recent was for a mandibulectormy with fibula free flap which has turned out to be stage 4 due to cancer found in the excised lower right jaw post op. The most amazing thing to me is I have never been a heavy smoker drinker or have HPV but here I am fighting this dreaded disease again. Joined: Feb 2015 Posts: 134 Likes: 7 | Sandy: I've been told by cancer center docs that those of us non- HPV patients have a cell weakness that when combined with smoking in youth and even light alcohol use in later years activates our cancer. Light alcohol use for equals disaster.
