Hi: My Wife recently finished up her radiation treatments for cancer in the lymph nodes and all is well, except for the aftermath of the radiation which she is handling quite well. Loss of taste being the main problem as she tries to cope..

She must use fluoride custom appliances....Mouth guards....Every day, once a day...And these were covered by our insurance plan. The mouth guards must be coated each time by a Fluoride 2% Neutral gel which is NOT covered by our insurance plan. That said, we live in Ontario Canada and we are wondering if anyone else has this gel covered, or not covered, by their insurance plan? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I’m from Ontario too. My husband actually bought a case of fluoride from his dentist at the beginning of treatment but I have no recall if that was covered by our insurance plan.

The hospital where your wife is getting treatment should,have a Benefits Office. It may be a good idea to contact them and ask for assistance. They would know various channels for accessing financial support.
