I haven't posted in a long time. Generally, things are going well for my hubby. But in the last few months, he has had red, raw lips that he has been treating with petroleum jelly. No improvement. He is going to try NOT using the jelly and see if he has been having a reaction to the stuff. In the meantime, we are looking for suggestions from you. What have you used that works to soothe and heal?

Its nice to see you checking in. I like Burts Bees lipbalm. I think Burts Bees may have a medicated line of lipbalm too, maybe that would help Clark. Another thing that could help would be manuka honey. Many over the years have touted how well it works with helping to speed healing. Also to help with healing is high protein whey powder added to his diet. As always, check with physician/nutritionist about changes in diet or trying what I suggested. Hope this helps ChristineSCC 6/15/07 L chk & by L molar both Stag I, age44 2x cispltn-35 IMRT end 9/27/07 -65 lbs in 2 mo, no caregvr Clear PET 1/08 4/4/08 recur L chk Stag I surg 4/16/08 clr marg 215 HBO dives 3/09 teeth out, trismus 7/2/09 recur, Stg IV 8/24/09 trach, ND, mandiblctmy 3wks medicly inducd coma 2 mo xtended hospital stay, ICU & burn unit PICC line IV antibx 8 mo 10/4/10, 2/14/11 reconst surg OC 3x in 3 years very happy to be alive | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 701 Likes: 1 "Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) | OP "Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 701 Likes: 1 | Thank you, Christine! A local store carries manuka honey. I've heard good things about that in other posts on this forum.

Other members have used it for many different things including skin irritations. I remember someone said it healed a cut or something overnight.
Please let me know how it works for Clark.
Good luck!!! I will add, organic, pure coconut oil and pure aloe very directly from the plant or purchased. I prepped coconut oil alone nd/or with aloe, with Jeans cream and manuka honey for anything and everything for my husband.. the skin on his neck during RAD, his lips and even some food grade organic aloe to swish in his mouth when he had mucositis.
I swear his neck did much better because of the multiple -daily applications of coconut oil and honey. good wishes!
