Had my usual physical and blood work, and my alkaline phosphatase came in a little bit high. They did a fractionation of the result, and found the liver component was high. Ultrasound showed three spots between 1 cm and 2.5 cm on right lobe, with suggestion that these were metastasis. Had MRI yesterday, and got the call from my GP this morning that he wants to see me on Monday to "discuss my results." We all know what that means.
So, it would seem that my journey begins anew. With the spots fairly small, and all within the right lobe, I'm hoping it's resectable. The folks at the James Cancer Hospital are amazing, so I have total faith that if it can be done, they will do it. It just really, really sucks right now . . . Sorry to hear about your new health issues. Hopefully its confined to the liver and can be resected or treated without excessive damage.
So your GP had the time to call and schedule an appointment on Monday, but unable to discuss the results today. That makes for a LONG weekend.
(I guess there really is no great way to give or receive the news.)
Good Luck

Hopefully it is something else, other than cancer, and biopsy, which I assume may be done if the MRI is suspicious, to prove cancer, is negative. It's good to hear you're up to battle whatever it may be! Besides resection for liver cancer. there is radiation like cyber knife, proton therapy, that is more precise, if it's needed. Was your original bot tumor HPV positive? These prove to be more sensitive to treatment in distant metastseses too, and can be curative, but am really jumping the gun until you find out more. Waiting is the worst, but there may be more testing or treatment waiting, besides for the MRI if it's suspicious. Good luck

We met with physician's assistant on Friday, and MD today -- 3 lesions on liver, 1 on spleen, 1 on spine. Next step likely a biopsy to confirm cancer type, but probably the original SCC. It is a difficult situation to be in. Like ChristineB said, we are here for you. Do let us know what your treatment plan is. Is there any possibility of your getting immunotherapy?
