Yeah, I only got in to see my ENT quickly after an oral surgeon had done a biopsy and I knew I had cancer--he's usually booked months in advance. I would suggest the dentist or going straight to an oral surgeon.

Hi Bmerk,

I had the same mysterious "sore" on the side of my tongue also that began around 1999 when I was 29 years old. I ignored it thinking that I was just biting my tongue. In 2001, I went to see my dentist and was then referred to an oral surgeon that did a biopsy of the "sore". There was pre-cancer in that biopsy. Then I was referred to an ENT that did a surgery and that tissue ended up having cancer in it. I have had an ongoing lesion since 1999 and have had 2 cancer removals. I agree with everyone that you should see the right doctor for this siutation. Get more than one opinion, if needed. I hope everything turns out okay. You are in my prayers. I just learned about this site recently and everyone here is extremely helpful and supportive!
