I'm a 53 year old female that in 2008 was diagnosed with stage 2 tonsil cancer in both tonsils and on the back base of my tongue...went through 8 long weeks of 5 days radiation treatment as well as 8 weeks of 1 day chemo...on my birthday of that year they took a PET scan and it was gone...although I have been on a continuous surgery for dilation of my throat which started out once a week to now every nine weeks...also now I'm going to see a reconstructive surgeon for my jawbone that destroyed from the radiation...I'm nervous but anxious at the same time...

I hope to meet others on here who have gone through this and maybe be of some help to others from my experience with this.

Hello and welcome. This is a great place for information and advice.
There will be others come along shortly who have had experience with a mandibulectomy and or Osteoradionecrosis.

Welcome to OCF! Its always great having another long term survivor join our group.

Yes, many members have had varying degrees of the jaw reconstruction surgery (mandibulectomy). Im sure you will connect with others who have similar experiences with the after effects of rads.

Best wishes!

Christine
