It was a very long surgery. The team was great and did a good job. So now it is my job to recoup. I think it is going to take a while. Like a few of you reported my leg hurts more than my jaw. I do find that the more I walk the better. I now walk with out the walker but carefully. Not sure how long all of this is going to take. The incision sites look good and clean.

Good luck with your recovery. It will take some time to heal but everyday should get better . Keep taking some walks its good therapy .
Manuka Honey is great for the incision . As it heals it gets tight and causes some pain. It can only be bought at a whole food store but it works wonders. With just a few uses on my mother I can hardly see her scar anymore.
Good Luck Heidi.

I was feeling like I just can't do much more. This has taken a lot more out of me than I thought it would. I also have to realize I am only 25 days out. I was wondering how long did you or others take before you were feeling good and off the tube feeding. My last time on tube feeder was 7 months. I am sure that will not be the case this time. I go back for another Check with Dr. on Dec. 2nd. I am hoping I will be doing well by Christmas. I have big plans and I hope I will be able to do them.

It's going to take some time to recover. With my mother I was shocked at two monthes how well she was doing from her surgury. My mother even went back to work at three months out. (Until the reccurance). Dont allow yourself to be mentally depressed. Be strong you can handle it . Hopefully by christmas you can continue with your plans.
Good Luck Heidi

All the excitement and activity of treatment is over and the deafening quiet sits in. Athe mind is racing with every pain or lump bringing the most fear, because of the unknown. Of course, situational depression will most surely set in.
I had my feeding tube for about 6 months plus I had 3 bags of fluid and TPN feedings through my mediport during the 6 months.

I had to stop the formula for feeding Tube. For some reason it was making me sick. I have been fixing my own and blending and able to swallow. Also using Boost to help with high protein and other benefits. My Depression is better. I am in therapy for my jaw for edema, and to expand the jaw opening range. My leg is doing fine. I do have some nerve damage but I think that might improve in time. Right now I think things are looking better than a few weeks ago. Hope all is going well for everyone.

Was able to be there with Mom and give her my special Gift I made her. It was a photo quilt of her family. I am still in Therapy but was wondering if anyone can tell me how long the edema lasts. It seems like it swells more when I talk or eat. This makes it more difficult to eat and talk. Therapist is getting a pressure mask to see if that will help. Also doing the massages to help redirect the fluids in face to the glands. This also makes it hard to eat.. I think I am just impatient.!! Also how long before you can get a dentures or a plate made. Is is like a year?? It would be nice to have some back teeth..
