A friend of a friend was told they would need 30 rad treatments for basal cell on his cheek. They were asking me what to expect but I'm guessing it would be lower dose than my experience since it is close to the surface. Anyone have experience with this?

Some patients get 30 rads while others get 35 or even 40. There are too many variables when it comes to why one is prescribed certain treatment plans. The treatment facility should be going by the NCI guidelines with a treatment plan but not every facility will follow them strictly. Each patient is slightly different. There havent been many with basal cell cancer on here but there have been many (myself included) with the tumor on their cheek. They will go thru what we all did with rads. If no chemo is used they may fare slightly better than most of us. Nutrition and hydration are still the most important things to focus on.

Best wishes to your friend. Maybe they will join our group.
