Ask the pharm or doc re swallowing. I couldn't tolerate cold or hot, everything had to be room temp. Re how much, just enough to swish and gargle with. I used it right before I wanted to swallow liquids or food to take the edge off the pain.

It is available thru a prescription at the pharmacy and isnt something you would be making yoruself at home. Mine was benedryl, lidocaine and maylox and it could not be swallowed. Other formulas may be ok to swallow. However, if swallowing it will numb you all the way down making the possibility of choking much greater. Ask your doc for detailed instructions on how to use the MM that is prescribed and what it contains. You can swish it around quite a bit.
