It seemed to stop when the steroid course ran out. The nausea continued but the hiccups stopped. Just a weeks respite before the next dose of Cisplatin and it all starting again. We are sure it was the Cisplatin. Nothing stopped the relentless hiccuping. They went all night too. The experience was so terrible I know that he would never have any further chemo. Tammy
Caregiver/advocate to Husband Kris age 59@ diagnosis DX Dec '10 SCC BOT T4aN2bM0 HPV+ve.Cisplatin x3 35 IMRT. PET 6/11 clear. R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in. March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
| | | | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 8 Member | Member Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 8 | My husband was given a choice between Cisplatin and Erbitux and I remember them telling him one of the annoying sideeffects of Cisplatin could be hiccups. More common in men than women. Hope this helps.
Husband: HPV16+ SCC base of tongue 2 nodes+ 7 Erbitux doses, 70 gry completed June 9,2014. Now we wait!
