Several caregivers have used the following tactic with their patients. They will print out a bunch of posts they feel are important to the patient. From there they will "accidentally" leave them someplace the patient can find them and read it. This works especially well when left someplace the patient is able to read the printed posts in private and is able to pretend they never touched the stack of printed posts. That will help the patient to save face with not "needing" the forum but still getting them to learn the important info indirectly without being told by their caregiver. It works very well when eating becomes a challenge and the patient wont push themselves to take in the minimum of 2500 calories and 48 oz of water. Your summary of his history doesn't mention surgery the first time, and it looks like it was caught relatively early.
I had surgery without the rads, so there are always numerous options.
Good luck!
