Anyway, his left side is now swelling. Yesterday, in AM it was sore and later I could actually see a protrusion. He has had a sore throat for about a week-but I did also.
What do you think?

I had tonsilectomy 9/20 (no re-section) and have been able to swallow even since then.
Typically, we say if problem doesn't clear within 2 weeks a doctor visit is in order. But, with his "protrusion" I might go ahead and call tomorrow.
Good luck with it, and welcome to the family.

You never know what is going on, it could be an infection or it could be nothing serious. After going thru what your husband has its hard not to get worried over any symptom even minor ones. I always err of the side of caution and get things checked out. Its better to be safe than sorry. Call the doc (ENT) and get your husband thoroughly checked out. He wants to go to GP--I am pushing for the ENT Cancer Surgeon who has done follow-ups.
No swallowing story--His reconstruction has left him with what looks like a diverticulum, during the Barium Swallow, liguid would go done with the hard swallow and then as he released the pouch(diverticulum) would push it bsck up and the epiglottis isn't in position then to protect his lungs~! Been trying to convince surgeon to do something.
Musc in Charleston does not believe he could benefit from the Stimultor-- says he doesn't have any nerves left there.

With regards to his present issue if there is ever anything that has you concerned I would go see your specialist right away - don't wait. Best of luck
