Hi, About 6 years ago my mother died of ALS. When she first got it I contacted the ALS center in Pittsburgh and they asked it I wanted her on the waiting list for this machine. I said OK. We got it when she could still talk and move her hands. It can be connected to the phone and emergency numbers so you can get help quickly if alone. Family numbers connected to with a one button code. The machine talked whatever the person typed.Since ther are people who have lost their voice to oral Cancer it would seem like they should have one of these. The one for ALS was very sensitive to touch since they lose use of hands and fingers, a light touch with one finger would work with it. Cancer patients have full use of their hands so would not need such a sensitive type. You can carry on full conversations with this thing, even over the phone. It was free, you must send it back after the patient has no longer use for it.Does anyone know if they have such a thing for people who have lost their ability to speak?
