Hello,

everyone who got dx from lump/swollen lymph node in your neck, what was the size of swollen lymph node that was biopsed ?
I'm fighting doctors to do biopsy of swollen lymph nodes (for 6 months, many with size from 5-15 mm,various symptoms related to OC) they all say that they are too small for it.

Best wishes and God bless you all

A.

no dx yet, risk factors for HPV, many swollen lymph nodes form 0.5-1.5 cm. in the neck, ear pain, soar throat, lower jaw pain, lump behind tonssil...

PCP, dentist, hematologist, ENT, 2 rounds antibiotic (no effect), 2x echoscopy, various blood tests...

Hi Andrew, found a golf ball size lump under my left ear while shaving. Don't remember it being smaller and growing. Just bam there it was. Visit to PCP, ct scan, biopsy of left tonsil. SCC with mets to one node.

2.5cm when they did the FNAB. Usually, docs aren't too concerned with nodes under a cm.

Two months ago I had a lymph node that was 3x7mm picked up on a PET/CT, SUV 4.3, that was biopsied by FNAB under ultrasound guidance, which came back as metastatic cancer. I guess it depends on the location of the lymoh, and experience of the pathologist, and if using ultasound/sonogram. The patholologist was called In for review of the PET, and said he can do an FNAB. Good luck.

I noticed it while shaving but with no pain anywhere I opted to ignore it but by the time I showed it to my wife 30 days later she screamed "OMG that's as big as a golf ball, you have cancer!" Five, as in 5, doctors later she was proved correct.

If it is 15mm - that's 1.5cm - the node they removed when they did my surgery was 1.4 cm (or 14 mm) it was very palpable. The size of a small bird's egg. It was NOT too small to biopsy. Plus as someone else mentioned there is very much the possibility of doing an ultrasound guided biopsy. I would PUSH - better safe than sorry.

Yes i know that it is better to be safe than sorry, but i have to fight system, here in my country all doctors are old fashioned, they have this old thinking that OC is only for older people with long smoking/dirnking history... They do not know about OC HPV breakthrough in modern world frown And if you talk to much they think that you are hypohondrical...

Andr3w, you should send your doctors to this site and tell them to poke around a little.

In my case the lump appeared more or less suddenly and it was about the size of a walnut. When they eventually cut me open to remove it they found a second smaller one malignant that I hadn't even felt. So you should definitely push these guys!

Keep us posted.

i read so many stories, the things you all got trough, this is wonderful family!
Trying to push them all, but things are going very slowly: visit-> wait for your turn-> visit-> wait for your turn again for a week or two... frown
In my opinion majority of diagnosed with OC are in late stage, maybe 70-80 %, this thing is in such obvious place, but so hard to detect...
