My radio therapy starts on 10/21. Today there was more bleeding than usual but it has stopped now. My doctor has prescribed medicine to control bleeding. Even my blood pressure shot up during the day. Please let me know if its normal. Is there anything else that can be done to control bleeding other than the prescribed medicine - ice pack, diet (food to avoid), etc. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think it's best to call your doctor in situations like these to answer. I have suggestions for many things, non life threatening, but not with anything dealing with bleeding, life threatening, and is best left for a doctor or emergency care, and if you feel you need to do so, don't hesitate.

Good luck.

Im wondering why you are bleeding? Did you have surgery? If you just suddenly begin to bleed you should call your doctor. When in doubt, always err on the side of caution and seek medical attention.

Thanks for your response. I have been having small streaks of blood once in a while. But this weekend I bled more than usual. I called the doctor and took the prescribed medicines and it didn't bleed after that.
Christine: No, I have not had any surgery.
Just wanted to know if anyone here also experiences occasional small bleeding.

When Ive had oral cancer tumors they did not bleed all by themselves. Glad you called the doctor. There is always a doctor on call 24-7 so dont ever hesitate to call them if something like this happens.

Best wishes!

Thanks Christine. Due to my stroke last year I have been taking blood thinners and my doctor told me that can cause occasional bleeding from the tumor. I have not been taking the blood thinners for about 2-3 weeks so wondering what's causing the bleeding. Thanks for your response. I will watch out and consult the doctor again.
Best Wishes!
