My Brother has been diagnosed with oral cancer and is a stage 3. He has had 2 surgeries, one of them today and all his teeth removed and part of his upper left jaw/gum area. He has had problems today with his insurance company not wanting to pay for radiation treatments until 5 months from now. The cancer has not spread to his lymph nodes as the doctors thought it would. My question here is: How do you deal with insruance issues when you're tired/sick and not sure what to do? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks. | | |

There have been many good informative discussions there.
I can't answer your question from experience but if it were me I would call the insurance company night and day until they see the point. If your brother can't do it perhaps you or another family member could help
Take care

Your doctor will talk with whoever they have doing med review for the insurance company. I did med review for Trigon and many people don't realize that the majority of the time, claims are denied by an employee who is entry level and simply does not know the system. I would watch these employees put a caller on hold for a LONG time while they searched for the answers they needed. Rather then take the time to do it right, they succumbed to the pressure of having tons of calls in "Q" and would not go back to the caller, simply sending them a form letter of denial. Alot of times people don't understand that the first denial is not always final, you need to call and fight it. I have had to fight for alot of things with my insurance company, but I let my doctors do it for me when possible. Hope this helps, Minnie
