Went to maxillofacial consultant six months ago because i thought there was a lump in my sublingual gland at side of my tongue in floor or mouth. He felt the area and said probably my normal duct. But because there was an ulcer there we would biopsy the ulcer. Result came back fine, no cancerous cells.
Now for a while my tongue feels uncomfortable because it feels swollen under the ulcer, which has still not healed from the biopsy, and if i put my finger under it it feels like a swollen lump.
I cant believe he biopsied the ulcer only, did a neck ultrasound, which i cant believe can see something small in my sublingual gland, and sent me packing, i am so anxious and depressed about it all.
Just been sent to ent for neck pain and they said my larynx is swollen and diagnosed lpr reflux and are sending me for ultrasound for enlarged lymph in my neck.
What tests can be done to check my sublingual gland? I cant believe he sent me away saying, probably your duct.

A PET/CT scan, or a MRI with contrast, or excision, direct biopsy. Good luck

I know this is possible as it happened to me. I had a tumor under the surface that an initial biopsy did not catch! ;( I don't want to scare you - But I would rather have you go back and get it checked than discover a tumor when it is more advanced. Better safe that sorry. Plus sitting there concerned is no way to live - it takes its toll mentally. It could very well simply be swollen because of the biopsy - or even infected, but have it checked regardless. hugs

Thanks for all your advice. Am seeing maxillofacial surgeon again in a week to recheck unhealed ulcer and soft lump i am feeling underneath. Thing is i can get my finger underneath the lump so it is not a growth with roots to the floor of the mouth. Good sign or does this mean nothing? Also my full blood count is normal, esr red white cells etc....
Can anyone comment?
