All the what ifs come into play and I'm a mess until it heals and until the next time roles around. It seems as thought the two ways I hurt my tongue the most is by waking up and peeling my bone dry tongue and mouth off my teeth or eating.
i have a few questions for you guys
Post radiation did you find it very easy to hurt your tongue?
Are there anyways to speed the healing? I've basically been numbing it and using this oral gel canker sore wash.
And I feels as though I can't even remember what my cancer looked like. It literally looks like there isn't anything there but I'm in annoying sore like pain. It doesn't help either that I'm probe to canker sores even before I had cancer.
Large sore on right side tongue. Had for 3 mos. biopsied came back stage 2 well differentiated tongue cancer. Partial tongue removal and neck disect. On feb142012. Rads for 6weeks finished in June. Couldn't speak or eat for 5 months. Clear pet scan dec 2012. Former smoker hpv- 27male. Recent ENT visit said "as far as I can tell you're cured" 💗

Sorry that I couldnt give you a more positive answer. If you add some high protein whey powder to your diet that can help with healing issues. Check with your doc to make sure its ok for you in your situation.
Just remember a complete recovery can take a full 2 years so you still have a ways to go.
