Can someone give me a procedure and recovery time for the surgery I'm having day after tomorrow? At this time, I'm scheduled to have 2 to 4 teeth removed from the front lower right, bone scraped, and tissue removal with possible skin graft from thigh. How long should I expect to be out of work?

During the operation, will the doctor be sending samples down to pathology during the operation for sampling, or will they look at them at a later date and inform me of the margin of normal cells?

Hoping for the best....

One last question.... Is it ok for me to 'blow off some steam' tonight before my surgery on Friday ??

Chris,

I've had 4 surgeries on my tongue (2 outpatient, 2 overnight), plus teeth removed 3 times (all out patient). Since I didn't have your exact procedure it is hard to estimate how long you will be out of work. It varied for me.

My last 2 surgeries were at Johns Hopkins and they did "frozen sections" during surgery to determine what needed to be removed. This is a question to ask your doctor as not all hospitals do these during surgery. Regardless, the official biopsy will be done after surgery where they have more time to examine the tissue.

Wishing you the best! Please let us know how the surgery goes.
