I went through this with both my parents and had hospice for both of them.  They will help you both get through this.  I'll keep your pop and you in my prayers.   Susan

 14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
 6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
 bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
 24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.

 Joined:  Jun 2011 Posts: 188 |  Pop passed peacefully--and sneakily this weekend, giving us a morning of coffee chatter, shampoo and shave time to be followed by a quick exit.  We were talking about his granddaughter's birthday the following day and his son's the day before.  He heard it all and I firmly believe he waited til we were out of the the room--and with the exception of his granddaughter/my daughter's sudden "Mommm!" he went for eyes wide open to calm. I believe firmly that he chose his time so as not to darken a birthday...plus he saw his mother and mother in law waiving to him outside his precious garden view window.   Caco
 CG to Dad.  Biopsy 5/11 non-op, SCC stage IV poorly dif at base of tongue with nodes, quit smoking in '85,  ChemoRad began 8/2/11 ended 9/22/11 with NED.  Distant mets 11/11, clinical trials.  War raging on!

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks  radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. TX completed January 2008. PEG out mid- 2008. We saw my dad on st.patricks day and he was awesome, then two days later we lost him. I am so happy about the time we did have with him that day it was terrific. Hugs my dear..  R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
 Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc.  clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
 March 2017 -  5 years disease free. Woohoo!
