For the last 5 months I have had a sore on back lateral tongue not to mention a sore throat and ear pain. I have had a CT, had seen two oral surgeons, and 3 ENT's who did the scope down my throat. They said the tongue didn't look like cancer. It hurts and I'm not sure what else to do. Is the CT scan reliable?

Please help!

From what was written, it doesn't look like they did a biopsy. If that is a case, I recommend finding more competent doctors. Literally the first thing my oral surgeon recommended the very first time I saw him was a biopsy which they scheduled for the very next day. If you haven't had a biopsy yet, I would definitely say that is your next step.

Hello,
I'm sorry, I haven't had a biopsy yet. I go to the ENT at UAB Friday and I'm hoping he will give me one. This has went on long enough. I guess I will just demand a biopsy. Are FNA accurate or should I ask for the lesion to be taken off?

A biopsy would be the next step in determining what going on.Sometimes you have to be your own advocate and insist that things be done. The other solution as stated above is find another doctor. I suggest one that deals with OC's on a regular basis. A CCC would be the best place to go.

Here's a link to the top cancer centers in the country. There's bound to be one within driving distance of you.
