hi all

Still awaiting biopsy results after seeing the maxillofacial surgeon. He suspects everything will be ok, no suspicions. However. When i gave up smoking three years ago i got a bad addiction to nicotine lozenges and sucked them for over two years. Used to crunch them up in my mouth. The local gp says they do not cause cancer. When i used them i constantly got canker sores on lining of both cheeks which doc said would clear up when i stop them so i finally did and the canker sores went away. I am really worried that maybe because of the aspartame these might be the reason for the ulcer i have now. Nicotine js itself definately not a carcinogen but some evidence now on nhs site that e mints a not sd safe as they make out and starting to suspect links to mouth cancer. Has anyone anything on these lozenges? Xxx

Hi Paul

Thanks for the link. Its exactly what i read but on nhs uk site. Obviously im hoping for a negative result and my ulcer is only an ulcer but if theres anything different showing up il be doing a lot of research. Those mints were terrible, worse than any cigarettes as they gave me canker sores all the time and my stomach was constantly sore, never been the same since. I even thought i had stomach cancer because last year the acid in my stomach was so bad. Ive been paranoid about them ever since and now an ulcer being biopsied. frightened stiff. I just thought all that nicotine being held in the mouth all that time. a smoke is over in a couple of mins isnt it

Waiting is the worst! Keep busy in the meantime, Don't Dr. Google, you can make yourself sick from worrying, and nothing more you can do about it right now other than seeing, having trust in your doctors. It's nice here, hot, so taking a walk in the park nearby to clear my mind, It helps.

Thanks for all your support. Right now i can see a tiny cut has appeared a few millimetre above my wound from the biopsy and feel a small lump that i cant see on my gum under my teeth on right side, this just gets worse!!! Good advice, having drinks with friends tonight something i rarely do so going to chill out. Ifni develop oral cancer at 31 then my god, poor bugger me. Mind you i feel deeply for you and others who might not have smoked drunk etc and it seems had no real risk factors for this disease, enjoy your walk in the park, lifes for living!!! peace xxx
