I woke up that morning with a small scratch in my throat, but didnt think anything of it. thought it was from maybe not sleepin well. Well i get to the hospital and im getting ready to go in and they take my temperature and i have a 100.8 fever(Still have a 99.7 fever and its now saturday night). They refuse to do the operation so i went home and went back to sleep. woke up about 6 hours later with a terrible sore throat, not that it hurt all the time, but just terribly when i would swallow. along with that, my gum that covers my bottom left wisdom tooth has been ripped somehow, and there is a hole in the gum and i can see part of my wisdom tooth. as the week went on i started to notice i now have what feels like a canker on the back left of my tounge(right next to that split, and white bump toward the front of my left cheek, and i had another group of white bumps in the back next to the hole, but they are going away. anyways, between these sores and my throat(feels like there is something sharp stuck in it and i cant get it out),i can barely eat. i take a few bites of food and its so painful to eat i lose my appetite very quickly. i think its weird that all this happened at the same time, and they are ALL symptoms of mouth cancer. so my question is...can these symptoms just develop like this over a few days, and to such a bad degree. i just figured i was sick but after 4 days and the pain is getting worse im getting pretty worried. im going to go to a walk in clinic tomorrow and see what they say. I would love any feedback. thanks | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | Welcome to OCF. The symptoms of oral cancer are not usually very noticeable which is why many patients arent diagnosed until the late stages. A fever is not one of the symptoms of oral cancer. That is a sign of an infection which it could be.
If the sores in your mouth are there for 2 weeks or longer then its time to go see a professional. I would suggest seeking out an ENT who specializes in oral cancer. A biopsy will tell what is going on and if its cancerous or not.
If I were you I would start with the family doctor as it sounds like you have alot going on right now. The fever should be addressed.
Good luck!!!

May I ask what the major operation was for, if not, no problem, but could it be related? Good luck.

Hopefully it's something minor.

It would more likely be from say tongue or cheek to nodes in your neck then on to other places. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but usually there is a primary site, and then if there are mets its often to nodes and the surrounding tissues. You definitely have something going on - And I wouldn't discount cancer as you may have one area that is - say - a lesion and the rest maybe an infection so it is good to have it all checked out. hopefully it's nothing.
