Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3,267 Likes: 4 | During my last visit with my ENT, two weeks ago, he did a scope, and said that my vocal cord is not moving, likely from all the radiation, and probably why my voice is lowered, hoarse. He referred me to an associate at an afiliated hospital, NY Eye and Ear Infirmary, to see a otolaryncologist there who gives collagen injections to help correct this. I didn't have a chance to follow-up/investigate yet, due to being rudely interrupted by a kideny stone. Maybe I'll see a Opthmologist while I'm there, I could use that more lol.
I haven't seen any postings for this, and this procedure may have different names, Collagen injection for Vocal Cord Augmentation, Injection Larygnoplasty, bulk injection.

Im glad you are one who researches things thoroughly before jumping into something. That procedure may work or it could be something that works for patients who havent gone thru what you have.

I do know that the ENTs/ Otolaryngologists use Collagen over here for a number of purposes , but I don't really know what they are for.
Our local hospital would not fund the Collagen for Kris so our ENT got their colleagues in Auckland to give us some by the back door method.
It has worked a treat for Kris. So, I really hope you have some success too- albeit for a different purpose.

PET 6/11 clear.
R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
