My radiation oncologist is purposing 7.5 weeks of radiation utilizing IMRT. I will be seeing my medical oncologist in a couple of days to determine Chemotherapy portion of my treatment. My question is about Amifostine. There are many different views on if works or not to help prevent some dry mouth. Has anyone taken Amifostine during their radiation? Thanks for the input.
SCC Stage IV base of tongue Dx 08/04. 8 weeks Taxol, Carboplatin then Hydrea, 5FU, IMRT x's 48, Iressa. 33 at diagnosis.
