My dear cousin, who is in his mid 70s has melanoma on palate with reddening swelling to dentition on one side. All pre-testing and biopsies show no metastatic lesions in cervical spine, brain, lungs, no lymph node involvement , no vocal cord involvement. Surgeon will try to save teeth and jaw on affected side.
Of course , only when surgeon at Mt. Sinai here in NY performs surgery will he know extent of lesion.
I will be back to post but any input from anyone having this rare form of oral cancer, is welcomed.
Thanks
Terri

SO sorry to hear about your cousin. Most patients here have Squamous Cell Carcinoma. But anyone who has any type of cancer on the palate would be treated with either surgery and/or radiation with or without chemo. Those are the conventional methods to kill the cancer. It sounds like it has been caught early which means it should be easier to treat.
Best wishes with everything!
