Hi all,

It would be a lot easier if recovery was a straight line from awful to great. One day I can eat stale hard granola bars from the vending machine at work , no problem. The next day apple sauce hurts my throat. Go figure.

For the past several weeks I have been eating ever increasingly spicy foods, even adding medium taco sauce to tacos and burritos. No problems. Yesterday the ultra-mild IGA fried chicken was a 5 alarm fire in my mouth. Where did that come from?

Why the heck does yogurt hurt my throat? I tried all brands and types even Whips hurt my throat after 1 small tub.

For the past 4 month cleaning my ears, (yes in my ear) with a Q-tip was painful. It hurts somewhere in my throat. It final stopped this week. No clue why.

Why does my voice go in and out? Today, when I need to speak at work, I sound like crap? Its Monday, I barely talked at all yesterday?

You want see something Funny, Don't shave for a week. My facial hair pattern is just ridiculous.

Sunday morning I thought maybe, just maybe, I might have felt somewhat, barely, maybe, a little bit hungry. Wham, Trismus, mouth would barely open. Did my stretches, lost my appetite. Why?

Then, when things are really going good, bam Thrush. Nothing like baking bread in your mouth.

Where do I go to get a refund for this trip.

Anyway pet scan Wednesday, RO meeting Thursday. Anybody want to trade.

Hockey Dad - I just had to chime in here and tell you I love your great attitude and the humor you bring with it in describing what's been happening with you. Glad to hear the pain stopped somewhere in your throat but a little worried about the Q-tip in the ear. . . . I've always heard that you are not supposed to put anything in your ear bigger than your elbow but I don't know anybody that can get their elbow in their ear anyway. Hope your recovery line continues with many more ups and less of the down times. smile

That stinks! I know I anticipate it, hsve some anxiety no matter how many times, and would be disappointed too. Friday will soon come.

I love your list detailing the day to day variables. I just always accepted those thing as expected so for me I found your list hilarious. If I were to have kept track I cannot imagine what other curious events I could add to your list. One day I woke up and the inside of my mouth was sore purple tissue. I treated with manuka honey and it was gone the next day. Long and short of it is that all of these steps forward backward, sideways and forward are good things - we are here to watch our bodies struggle with the assaults it has endured. Patience - it gets better.

Maybe your PET scan was moved to Friday instead of Wednesday to accommodate someone who was more freaked out about not getting in sooner. Later in my son's Tx, his appointments were often moved up but the kind office people always asked first if it was ok. My son's shaving experience was also memorable. He told me the razor would just move over the hairs which would kind of slide out of the radiated area and deposit themselves in some other place on his face - so he found that using duck tape on his beard area instead of a razor was more efficient. Oh - the wonders of duck tape! Hang in there - Friday will be here soon.

PET scan results are in....................................................Clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signature updated.

But, My evil vista computer decided it has cancer. I had to go full IMRT radiation with a clean install on it. After multiple 5 hour surgeries, the patient is stable. What a waste of time.
