Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 267 | My new hair is curly, too. My hair is normally stick straight, fine and light brown. I lost about three inches on the back of my head from ear to ear and it grew back darker brown, a little coarse and curly. I don't know about losing hair on the front of the neck. I'm a lady so I don't have hair on my chin (that I'll admit to).
Tracy - 33 at diagnosis
SCC right ventral tongue Dx 4/11.
T1N2M0
1st resection 5/11.
Bilateral neck dissection: 2 pos nodes
2nd resection w/graft 6/11.
Erbitux x 11 completed 9/11. IMRT x 30 completed 8/11.
3 month MRI and PET/CT all clear.
6, 9, 12 and 24 month post treatment MRIs all clear.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I was very lucky and didn't lose any hair on my head and just a few on the left side of my chin. Now I wish , with this no jaw or bone, that all the whiskers had gone bye bye. It's the hardest to shave between folds of hanging chin flesh.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 17 | Quick update. All of the hair has grown back. Looks as though nothing happened!!! It started to return a few weeks after radiation ended at the end of August....and By November he was looking his normal self.
Wife to 58 year otherwise very healthy husband(and the sweetest man in the world). T1N2b SCC. June 2012 TORS Tonsillectomy/mod neck dissection and 10 lymph nodes removed. Path showing 3 bundled nodes, slight ECE. IMRT 30x and Cisplatin 2x. PEG for 10 wks. CT 12/12,2/13,5/1 3,9/13-allclear
