DanQ, Welcome back to the site. Sorry you need the support here, but at least you came to the right place. It is good that your attitude is so positive. That will have a good effect on your treatment and the results. If possible, would suggest you have chemo along with rad as the last I heard that treatment is giving very good results. I am also surprised you didn't have rad and chemo before. Hopefully this time you can get it all out.

well, i never did go to a cancer center, i had an excellent surgeon, but i never did see an oncologist, which i guess is really bonkers. so, i have a meeting today at 3 with head and neck rad specialist at LIJ (LI,NY) and it's in the oncology center there, so i'll talk with this doc ask about combo therapy, and grab me the nearest oncologist. i yai yai.

Dan,

Memorial Sloan Kettering has a few Long Island locations. I think my Radiation Oncologist is covering at one of them. Let me know if you need a name. Since you are in the Metro-NY area, MSKCC should be one of your opinions. My $.02, Chemo/Radiation fast! My medical oncologist is the head and neck guy at MSKCC if you need his number.

Dan, Glenn said it all - get into treatment, dual mode, fast! And when you do, there are hundreds of us here who can tell you in advance what to expect, and answer all questions along the way. Just get started, okay?

I received some good news yesterday, the slides were reviewed by the chief of oncology and i was downgraded to a T1.
i met yesterday with the radiation oncologist. Radiation planning starts aug 12. My case is going to be reviewed by the tumor board at LIJ next week and they will check everything out and decide if i'm going in the right direction with treatment.

so i guess i'm on my way to hell, but i'll just be passing through.

Dan-

Great news! Just passing through is what you have to remember. It might take a month or two but it doesn't last forever. You'll know that they are hitting the beast with everything they've got this time! Hang in there and we are here to help you through it!! There's a lot of hints in the archives to get you through that hell and the fight is worth it! -

Dan,

It may get tough but many have traveled the road before you. I am hoping for the best possible treatment for you.

Dan, Stage I, what great news! All you have to do now is get a little treatment and bingo, gone in 60 Seconds, or so. Will be praying for you to tolerate the treatments and keep a good attitude, or a stiff upper lip.
