He's got mucositis and so far the Mugard has been his favorite wash. He's continuing with the Caphasol, baking soda, and CML, but those don't address the ropey mucous. Any ideas about something to take the place of the Mugard?

The effervescence of the club soda will break up the mucous, and help heal like the baking soda rinse. And I'll add what I always add - waterpik. Get one if you can he can use it on the lowest setting with the tongue cleaner head (blue one that looks like a spoon)it shoots water around the persons mouth to clean up all the gunk and if you add a little non alcoholic mouthwash it freshens too. tis awesome. So glad he finished. Hope he is doing ok.

You can add meat tenderizer to it or water, if it doesn't burn, since both have enzymes in it to cut the mucus. Sleep with a humidifier, on an incline. Some use OTC Mucinex or Robotussm to help the mucus. I didn't have much luck with the waterpik, and was flying all around the pace like a loose fire hose lol. but many use it successfully.

It will take a prescription from your physician to get one from a medical supply company. The machine can be a huge help in getting rid of the thick mucous. They can also do this right in the doctors office. The first few weeks post-tx are the toughest, but I am sure that you will 'turn the corner' very soon!
Soda water, ginger ale or drinks with fizz in it didn't work for Jen but the Waterpik that Cheryl mentions is amazing and is highly recommended.
