The message claims that Graviola, also called Soursop is a miraculous, natural cancer cell killer which is 10,000 times stronger than Chemotherapy. It is a fact that Soursop has certain health benefits, attributed to its anti-parasitic, anti-microbial and anti-depressive properties, and recent studies have shown that it MAY have chemotherapeutic potential, but the part of the message saying it is natural cancer cell killer, 10,000 times stronger than Chemotherapy, is a certain hoax.

Of course this is a hoax!!!! If there was a cure for cancer it would already be on the market and everyone would know about it. I really hate the people who put these things out and make it sound so believable that it makes you second guess if its real or not. Darn scammers!!!! Then there are the ones who are trying to make money off cancer patients, I dont know which bunch is worse.

Facebook is the perfect venue for hoaxes as it is unmonitored. Things like this will spread like wildfire and there is no one to remove the garbage.

First it is NOT a fact that Sorusop has any more health benefits than fruit or tea (and fruit and tea are healthful. Instead it's just an assertion by the usual suspects.
Sorusop or graviola is just the fruit and leaves of the guanabana tree (Annona muricata), also known as "soursop," "cherimoya," "custard apple," and "Brazilian paw paw." Yes, medicine men in Peru used it in a tea to "cure cancer" when there was no radiation or chemo. Back in 2007 and 2008, a whole group of these "miracle cures", mostly tea based and including soursop websites were shut down by the Federal Trade Commission for fraud.
There is no valid substantiated study showing that it may have any chemo benefits. Instead. like many many other things that have been proven worthless for treating human cancer, if you take cancer cells and put them in a petri dish, Soursop can kill them. But then what doesn't? Vinegar does, so does bleach. (And Yes, there are nuts who think they can cure cancer based on that.) That's it for the studies- outside of non peer reviewed and unreliable ones out of China and Korea.
This cruel hoax got a new life back in 2011, when a "Doctor" - turns out to have a PhD in Victorian literature not medicine- wrote in a Psychology Today blog and linked to several bogus studies - done overseas and spun the usual conspiracy tale of NIH hiding its own internal evidence of how great this works.
If there is any sure sign of a cancer fraud, it's claiming that NIH is hiding the cure.
So yes, this is total crapolla.

Oh WOW guys! I was just wondering if anyone had heard about this hoax. I didn't mean to even remotely imply that it might be real. That was not my intent at all. (But I know the road to hell is paved with good intentions)
The link I attached was to a hoax site - not a page that said it was a cancer cure.
You guys can be brutal at times, but this horrible disease is brutal all of the time.

The response was actually quite mild. Posting a link to any hoax website is against OCF forum rules which is why the link was removed. I know it was not your intent to assist with furthering this scam, but posting a link to a hoax site would help them by sending additional traffic to their site.
