Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 118 | My husband Reggie passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday morning. He faught a good fight, but he was not getting any better after this last so invasive surgery. I will miss him so much and must learn to live with a hole in my heart. He was the love of my life.

Bette, you were a fantastic caregiver and advocate for Reggie. You fought strongly for his recovery and health.

PET 6/11 clear.
R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!

I am deeply sorry for the loss of the love of your life. He had endured so much and I am glad that he passed peacefully. No one should ever have to go through what he did, and you by his side. I will hold you in thought, close to my heart, that you find some peace and comfort each day.

SCC L oral tongue (no risk factors)
L partial gloss/MND 3/28/11 @ 25 wks preg
T1-2N0M0; no rads/chemo
Tonsillectomy on 8/6/12 +SCC L tonsil T2-3N1M0 (HPV-)
Treated with 35 rads/7 carbo & taxol (Rx ended 10/31/12), but many hospitalizations d/t complications from rx.
Various scans since rx ended are NED!
Part of genetic study for rare cancers @ MGH.
44 years old now...I wasn't sure I would make it! Hoping for 40 more!
