Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 12 | Thank you all for continuing to pray and follow up on my husbands cancer and health. My Jim fought this disease with everything he had. He never gave up hope or his fight until there was no hope left. We started hospice at home on Dec 20th. I spent every minute of the day and night, going nights without sleep sitting a vigil at his bedside. We talked, we laughed, we cried, we planned his funeral, we talked about what my future and our childrens future held, the then when he couldnt speak anymore I just held his hand and told him how much we all loved him. Yesterday, on Jan 3, 2013 at 11:30 am my beautiful and amazing husband was released from his pain and went home to a place where there is no pain, suffering or illness. My heart is breaking and I cant begin to fathom how I will spend my life without this wonderful man by my side. I will miss him and love him every day of my life. Thank you all for your continued prayers and words of support. My husband is finally at peace and now I pray that I can get through this life without him.
Age 44.Tonsil HPV stage 4. Radiation/Cistplatin/peg tube. Spread lungs,stage 4. Lung wedge removal 12/5/2011. Carboplation, erbitux, 5fu until 5/2012. Clinical trial Anixinib.Disease progession in lungs,brain,colon,stomach,intestines. Hospice started 12/20/2012, passed away 1/3/2013

I am so sad to hear of your loss. I believe that you will find the strength to continue for your children's sake, and with the knowledge that he would want you to do so. I am glad that you had the precious time together at home. My prayers are with you and your children.

A friend once said to me " you will get through this" and so to will you. But, it wont be easy. Cherish your love and your life together and your family.
I will say some prayers for Jim and some for You.

R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!

Wife to John,dx 10/2012, BOT, HPV+, T3N2MO, RAD 70 gy,Cisplatinx2 , PEG in Dec 6, 2012, dx dvt in both legs after second chemo session, Apr 03/13 NED, July 2013 met to lungs, Phase 1 immunotherapy trial Jan 18/14 to July/14. Taxol/carboplatin July/14. Esophagus re-opened Oct 14. PEG out April 8, 2015. Phase 2 trial of Selinexor April to July 2015. At peace Jan 15, 2016.

Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 123 | I am so sorry to read this. I know exactly how you are feeling. You children will make you get out if bed everyday and you will get through it. Take it one minute at a time and eventually it will be an hour and then a day. Take time for yourself as well.

Every time we lose someone to this horrible disease we all hurt and I am compelled to comfort you in some way. Words will never ease your pain but I offer sincere condolences for the loss of your husband and the father of your children. I am so sorry. May your pain become more tolerable each day. Your husband was so fortunate to have you through this journey.

You have been such a fabulous caregiver I know that Jim and your whole family appreciate your dedication. 37 y/o fem at Dx (23 wks preg @ dx on 3/16/11)
SCC L oral tongue (no risk factors)
L partial gloss/MND 3/28/11 @ 25 wks preg
T1-2N0M0; no rads/chemo
Tonsillectomy on 8/6/12 +SCC L tonsil T2-3N1M0 (HPV-)
Treated with 35 rads/7 carbo & taxol (Rx ended 10/31/12), but many hospitalizations d/t complications from rx.
Various scans since rx ended are NED!
Part of genetic study for rare cancers @ MGH.
44 years old now...I wasn't sure I would make it! Hoping for 40 more!
