Just wondering if anyone has developed hydrocephalus as complication of neck dissection surgery. I had a brain bleed during my surgery and now have been dx with obstructive hydrocephalus. It's been very debilitating. Had to have a lumbar peritoneal shunt surgically placed. Life-long condition. Shunt placed 11/26/12. Already had several problems with shunt. Just wonder if this is typical complication of RND.
Any info appreciated greatly. Thanks.

I had a Radical Neck Dissection, and then two more neck dissections on the same side left neck, and did not have this complication. There are risks with this surgery, some which are more common than others. Off hand, it doesn't sound familiar to me, but doesn't mean it does not happen often. Hopefully, another blogger here can help. Good luck.

Thank you Paul. I searched the forum for 'hydrocephalus' and only one post came up. It was re an 86 year old lady who had it, but it was unrelated to her cancer. Hoping to hear from others.
Take care.
