Hi Everyone,

I had a MRI 6 months after my surgery and just heard from my doctor that there was "no mass, but a lot of post treatment changes" and they are recommending a follow-up MRI in 3 months.

Has anyone else heard this?

I mean, I would assume there would be a lot of post treatment changes - they burnt my tongue & neck to a crisp! But still I worry. I am also getting a red spot on my tongue and it's causing me to freak out...

Thanks as always for your feedback!

The results sound like they are normal to me. I was checked every 3 months for the first year after treatment and then it should go to every 6 months.

If you have a new spot on your tongue, get it checked out. The rule is....any sore you have in your mouth for 2 weeks or longer needs to be checked by a professional. I would suggest seeing your ENT. Thats who manages my care, I see mine every 3 months. At this point you still should be seeing them fairly often probably about every other month unless you have any changes. Give them a call and get checked out to help ease your mind.

I had 3 post Tx scans at 3, 6 and 9 months and the first 2 reports contained the phrase "areas that can not be excluded". Probably the same meaning as what yours said. Most likely inflamation and healing issues. Of course that didn't ease my overly thinking negative mental state but finally the 3rd scan was all clear.

If there are any questions about the scan, concerns with a red spot, you can always have a face to face meeting with your doctor to go over the results, and have an examination. Good luck with everything,
