It sure is a day to day struggle as you know. I wonder how long I can keep up this struggle of being in a bind and on a schedule every day of our lives. Can't go anywhere that takes more than 3 hrs because of the meds and feeding schedule. Live with 24/7 pain that would put most people on their knees. You gotta have it in your mind that one day you will be fine. If it was just OC I would be in great shape physically as well a mentally. Just too many other problems to put up with.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Jim - I've been thinking so much about you and wondering how you were doing. I'm so sorry you are having such a struggle with the meds and feeding schedule and the daily pain. Wish I could just wave a magic wand to make everything all better for you! You are such a strong survivor and inspiration to the rest of us. I'm hoping and praying that soon, things will get better for you.

Jim I hope you dont mind that I moved this over onto its own thread. I felt your words show you could use a hand right now with coping. Im so sorry you are struggling!!!

Just because you have to take meds and do feedings doesnt mean you have to stay home. Im always in and out and running all over the place. I take what I need with me and if necessary, I take my meds in the car where nobody can see me putting them in the tube. You can do the same with your feedings. Along with your medicine and formula, take along a small hand towel or washcloth, a bottle of spring water to flush with, and a plastic cup if you arent comfortable using the syringe to get water out of the water bottle. You can always go into a bathroom to do the medicine or feeding too. I know you like to go to church and visit with people so dont let the tube keep you from enjoying life.

If you are down, how about seeking out someone to talk with? You know you have tons of friends here that can help you too.

Hope today was a decent day for you!

My dear sweet Jim. How I wish things were better for you. You were away from the boards for awhile and I pictured you off working outside, keeping busy and shooting the breeze with your buds. Hopefully you were doing SOME of that. If the pain meds aren't working - get different ones - talk to your pain management clinic. I personally think that is the key to having the ability to do other things which enrich your life (like flirting with every female within 100 miles!!). Many hugs. Your Angels are still here for you.

Hugs

Donna

Hi Jim,
Don't know our cercumstances clompletely, but I used to feed my husband at night while he slep with his peg tube. When he was getting ready for bed, I would fill the bag and set the pump (same kind of pump that is used for IV's) and when he woke up in the morning he had already gotten 1 1/2 feedings. He could go out for most of the day. It really was quite convenient and didn't make him so full.
