When I use the fluoride, my tongue burns, bad. I think my thrush is getting better day 4 on the pill and cut out sugar and fruit.

One thing I noticed, my white spots (thrush?) is on the sides of my tongue and the Trays have very sharp edges on the inside and outside. So Ding Ding Ding.. My lovely bride is filing down the edges to be a little smoother, She does that for her night byte guard... We will see if that helps. God Bless her!

Also, question, the dentist told me to use a cotton swab to put a thin line of fluoride on the bottom of the trays, BUT I cant seem to get it to be thin... Does anyone use something besides a q-tip ? I know I was using way too much paste at first and did start using less, but I think I use more that a thin line.

Thanks!

My bottle has a small tip like a glue bottle would so I can squeeze a small bead of it along the inside... Are your trays hard? Mine are rubbery and soft... You might be able to pick up a small bottle at the dollar store that you can squeeze the flouride out if. It still burns for me and come October I'm 18 mos out of treatment and 20 post surgery.

I am using a fluoride paste. My trays are soft.
The small bottle idea may work.
Thanks

What kind of Fluoride are you using? My tube is small and has a very small opening to squeeze the paste through.

IT is a toothpaste Clinpro 5000 1.1% Sodium Fluoride with calcium phosphates.
The RAD OC said that my thrush is healing nicley, but my tongue is blister from the radiation.
Both the Rad OC and the main OC said to stop the trays, during treatment. Keep brushing 4 times a day. Start back after.

I started my tray use 1 month pre Tx and I know there were days during Tx that I just didn't use them. I did however use them for almost 5 years post Tx but was given the OK this year to stop by my long time dentist.

Contunue taking medication until completly finished as prescribed or when dr advises, not when symptoms cease. Follow good oral care, rinse with baking soda, salted water. If salt burns, leave out. Probiotics, yogurt introduce good bacteria in the mouth, stomach, but some say not when you have a compromised immune system, like cancer. Also, Change your toothbrushes often when you have thrush to avoid reinfectiion. Good luck.
