My mouth was on fire to day and after reading benscancerfight blogspot I realized I may have thrush. I called the RAD OC nurse and she said the doctor would have to check me when I come for my daily treatment. He gave me a script and I took 2 pills and 4 hours later my mouth is much better. Will this be a continuing issue?
I have not eaten much today, the little c has me backed up and my stomach is bloated. did eat cereal and yogut the morning, and 2 oz of jevity. Lunch was not to be...
Supper had more yogurt and 2 oz of jivity that barely would go in.
Nurse also said miralex for constitpation.. Hope it works.
I Have been drinking at least 6 bottles of water....
Wife got me some boost plus, I think I can swig one down before bed.

I feel better now.

They actually had Kevin take Diflucan throughout IMRT. This prevented him from getting thrush. He still had mouth sores, just not thrush.

Thrush can be very painful. Make sure you take all the meds to get rid of it. I also changed my toothbrush at the end of the meds so I wouldnt carry over any germs and reinfect myself. Thrush can happen a few times during and after your treatments. Its just one of the 'little lovlies' that go along with getting treatments.

Sounds like you are doing a good job with drinking. Also your eating is holding its own. Try prune juice in your tube. If it seems thick, add a little water to it. For me, the pineapple juice worked the best. I have to admit, I just couldnt bring myself to use the prune juice. Years ago my pediatrician would have me use karo syrup in my daughters bottle when she was a baby. That stuff is very thick so if you try it you will need to add water. Its found in the baking isle.

Keep plugging along!

I didn't have thrush issues until post Tx but since then I have had probably 4 infections which required meds. Now about a year or so ago my dentist told me to consume some Activa every day and since then I haven't had any thrush issues. Whether that had anything to do with it I'm not qaulified to say but all I know is I haven't had any more thrush which is a VERY good thing.

Avoid sugars it promotes thrush - make sure the yogurt is probiotic... And yes brush can be a problem... Take care!

I finally got some Magic Mouthwash. Works pretty good. No news from the South boarder yet, but there are rumblings.

Maybe over the years your good bacteria has made friends with the bad guys?

Well did have small bowel movement, about 1/3 or 1/2 what I usually do. My mouth has been burning (still see thrush on tongue and it burns bad when i do the fluoride) and headache, so I have been taken loritab for about 1 every 6 hrs and 1 extra at bed. I know this causes constipation, should I stop for a day or two or is there more I can do for little c? Double dose mirlax,?
