Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 24 | Happy belated birthday! EVERY birthday from now on will be cause for great celebration. Coincidentally, my 50th birthday is 8/23 and that is also the date of my follow-up Pet Scan. The best gift EVER will be an 'ALL CLEAR".
There could never be enough confetti, balloons and party horns for every survivor's birthday - every year!! Toot toot!!

Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 24 | Got the ALL CLEAR today from my oncologist. I am so thankful and so blessed. And now I can truly start living life as a survivor - not a patient. That will be so good for me. And I've got to figure out just what it is I'm supposed to do with this special second chance. It's not what I was doing before. Not if I intend to live every day happy and peaceful and thankful. My husband and I are seriously considering a move North. Into Oregon. Maybe Washington, but probably Oregon.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family
