I have been cancer free for 2 years and 4 months now after surgery to remove and rebuild my low right jaw and rebuild the lower floor of my mouth.

Now I just went through scare reversion surgery that my Cancer Dr. referred me to a plastic surgeon at University of Washington Medical Center. Round one of the surgery has gone really good, I will know more in 6 weeks if we need do some more work.

But the problem from the 1st surgery 2 year ago, I keep getting major neck spasms were I cannot move my neck. It will hit one side and when that side calms down it moves. Has anyone gone through this?

I have tried Message Therapy it helps for a day, my family doctor has my on mild muscle relaxer to take before bed. I am just seeing if anyone has gone through this and what have they done to relieve it.

Thank you
barry

Round 1 5/2007 - 35 Rad treatments and 6 chemo of cisplatin

Sorry to hear of your after effect issues, Barry. I do not have anything like that happening to me. I did have a stabbing pain in my face off and on for about 2 years. That has mostly disappeared now but on the rare occasion it comes back it stops me dead in my tracks with severe pain. Hope you get some relief soon!!!

Hi, Barry.

I am a physical therapist. Where are your spasms located?...front of your throat? Back of you neck? Up high near the base of your skull or lower down near your shoulders? Any radiating pain, numbness, or tingling into the arms? Can you identify triggers...time of day, activity, position, etc?

There are lots of reasons this could be happening. Perhaps you can seek help from a physical therapist. There are those of us out there that specialize in head and neck cancer patients and after-treatment issues.

If you'd like to send my a PM, I may be able to help you out.

Regardless, I hope that you feel better soon. I'm glad that your first plastic surgery went well. Hopefully, you won't need more.

Take care,
Kerri
