I've always gotten mouth ulcers, but they cleared up in 2-3 weeks. I went to my dentist and he's concerned about the amount of time that has passed and wants to rule out tongue cancer. I am very scared of "what if" but I hope its not. What I didn't know is the dentist said we don't get canker sores on our tongue, like in your cheeks and gums. This was a little unsettling. He believes though I keep biting the area where the lesion is and it won't heal, I hope so. Thanks for listening. | | |

I am glad you found us as we welcome all new comers. My hope for you is that you don't belong here! Hope that the biopsy is good news. If not, then know that there IS life at the end of the tunnel and we are all here to prove it!

Hopefully you won't have to join out little club. Although having a biopsy might seem a little imposing it's not a big deal. They spray a numbing solution and take a tiny little snip. It is very painless. It is far better to know positively. You will sleep better at night with a negative biopsy report.

I agree that finding the OCF forum sure makes dealing with all the uncertainty much easier. The folks here always lend an ear and try and help as much as possible. I find they fill in many of gaps, both medically and emotionally.
If you read thought some of the old forum posts you will see that a number of folks have gone through what you are now experiencing. I'm one... As Gary says the biopsy part is easy. Waiting for results can be tough. Keep a positive attitude. I think Gary was the one who first told me... "It's not cancer until the pathologist says so".
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
