This is my second posting to the list and I really want to thank those who responded. Your words were conforting and encouraging.

I had my tongue biopsy surgery along with a check of my throat with a lighted instrument (I can't remember the technical term). All went well. I'm waiting on the results and won't find out till Tuesday when I have my post op appointment with my ENT.

As Mark says, it's not cancer until it's confirmed but you still think the worst. Again much thanks. This site has answered many of my questions and is helping me to cope with the fear.

Hello Steve,

I am glad you were able to get that part done quickly. If you have read some of the past posts here you will find a very common expression that the waiting is the worst part. You are there now. Since you have been through this once before you probably know the feeling.

Lets all hope the biopsy comes back negitive and you can go on with a lighter load. If it is cancer rest assured you have many resources here and you can win the battle. For now don't look ahead more than one day.

Take care

Steve,

Best of luck to you (pray for the best but prepare for the worst, and talk to your friends). In my case they told me over the phone that it was "high grade, highly agressive" Stage IV A-SCC. Start doing research just in-case and if there is less than positive news bring someone to the consultation to take notes and help with follow-up questions. I had 8 weeks of radiation, 2 weeks of a boost(field) and then 2 weeks of (Novalis)shaped beam (this was twice a day X 5 days a week and 7 weeks of chemo.

Create a PLAN...just in case. And oh, my last biopies were "no tumor identified"

Welcome to the OCF message boards. A couple of points that will help you. First, When you start a new idea different from all those in the list in front of you, particularly a new question or a new topic, use the new topic button. Otherwise your message is stuck at the bottom of a thread of comments that has nothing to do with want you want to talk about, and given that people see the threads by the original posters title they gave it, people will miss your question or posting all together. So new person, new idea, start a new topic. Second it is kind of a general rule in internet circles that you do not type in all capitals. In postings, this is the equivalent of shouting when speaking to someone. Use all caps when you want to bring emphasis to a word or sentence, but other than that use upper and lower case type.

Regarding your tongue still hurting after the biopsy, this is pretty normal for the first week or so, it isn
