The surgeon does removals on Thursdays, but can't get us in for 3 weeks (on 3/22/12). It seems like waiting 3 weeks is increasing the risk of spreading. Is this normal? | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 112 Senior Member (100+ posts) | Senior Member (100+ posts) Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 112 | My biopsy was oct 28, 2011, inconclusive. had surgery on december 07, 2011 and diagnosed with tongue cancer with no mets! hope it helps!
December, 2011 - T1N0M0 SSC Oral Tongue sugery (Dec 07, 2011). Partial glossectomy, primary closure. Selective Neck dissection, all 57 nodes free. 29 at diagnosis, no risk factors at all. No smoking, drinking and HPV negative. Can you explain? I can't.

I want to know something and do something about it. | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 329 Platinum Member (300+ posts) | Platinum Member (300+ posts) Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 329 | Dan,
Sorry to hear about your wife. Also ask for a CT Scan too they can do both at the same time. You might want to call them on Monday to ask.
My lump started in January after being jerked around I had surgery in April. I did end up at one of the best Cancer Centers.
Hope all goes well.
Take care, Connie

The very best place to go for treatment is a Comprehensive Cancer Center(CCC). There a whole team of doctors will work together on your wife's case. Please take some time and read the info in the following link. Since you are just in the early stages of discovery there are many things that should be done before any procedures. A second opinion is very important. Main OCF pages, Diagnosis Main OCF pages, Treatment info NCI cancer centers

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, you will find tons of information and lots of support. You will find that we all agree on one thing, the waiting is the hardest part.

Three weeks feels long I know but usually they have prep work to do prior to... The pet is one of them, bloodwork, and usually a Preop as well - plus depending on the results of the scan they may bring other team members on board. I thoroughly understwnd your desire to get it out (that was me as well) three weeks isn't too bad. Though I do agree with Christine a comprehensive cancer center is the plce to be. Take care, welcome, and good luck with the surgery
