I just saw a pain specialist at the cancer hospital in Nice, France where I had all my treatments and was given some new medications. I have been taking acetaminophin/codeine for three years. I was given a low dose of Lyrica (pregabalin) which I think is pretty close to Neurontin which some of you have reported using. And also a medicated patch, Versatis 5% (lidocaine), which I can use on the affected area for up to 12 hours a day. The patch is pretty large, 10 by 14 cm (about 4 by 5-1/2 inches) You can use up to three of them at a time but one is sufficient for my shoulder. The combination of all three medications is keeping me really comfortable. I hope that the lidocaine patch is available in the U.S. as I found it to be really helpful. I think it may be a fairly new product as it's just been approved for reimbursement by the French medical social security. I hope this helps someone.
