Joined: May 2011 Posts: 62 | My cancer was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the tongue. Underwent surgery in 5/11, then radiation(35x) and chemo(3x Cisplatin) in summer'11. Diagnosed with metastasis to the lungs in 10/11 and went through 2 cycles of chemo again (Carboplatin + 5fu+cetuximab).
Is anyone there in a similar situation who has found any curative treatment or therapy or clinical trials that may seem promising.

Ive even had a friend whose husband had this happen. He had lung cancer with rads/chemo was cured, mets to tongue had surgery was cured. Best wishes with everything!

They had two areas in the lung effected - they posted around November of last year. Don give up... The were involved in 2 clinical trials. Hugs!

Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 118 Likes: 1 | Chetan, I have posted several times re my mets to the lung ~ in November on your thread. My cancer is in "remission" per my RO and MO! I stopped my last clinical trial in August and had Gated Rapid Arc stereotactic radiation to my hold-out cancerous hilar lymph node. You will want to check out current clinical trials accepting new patients and also find out if your lung mets may be susceptible to stereotactic radiation. Were your lung mets reduced in size and/or number? Number, size, location are factors the RO will consider for this treatment. My clinical trials reduced the number (to one) and size of my mets so the stereotactic radiation was appropriate for me. All the best to you.
