I am happy to hear about your outcome, Just to be sure have you seen an Oncologist? This cancer is a sneaky one and you want to be sure it is ALL gone.
Take care

So glad you are doing so well, Just wanted to make sure you see a radiation on'gist to make sure all the cancer is gone. I had a right side neck disection with no lymph node involvement and I am also receiving 6 weeks of IMRT radiation to clean up and make sure they kill all the cancer. Good luck to you, Dan

Follow up with an oncologist who is not a surgical specialist. 30% of stage one and two oral cancer patients have occult metastasis of the disease to cervical nodes or surrounding tissues. This is a reality not an opinion. Occult means that scans do not pick it up because it is a "micro" met. Frequently these individuals have what is termed recurrences, but in actuality is still the left overs from the original cancer that were too small to see a year or two down the road. Another opinion would not be that big a deal, and may make a difference in your future. Also like the others, I am pleased to hear that you are doing so well. You have all of our wishes that this is permanently in your rear view mirror and your future is full of healthy days.
