Sending many prayers and good vibes to Nate for a successful surgery and a quick and as painless as possible recovery.

And when they do - being optimistic - is not something they do well for fear of hearing a patient say - but you said.... Generally they err on the side of caution and focus on the negative. So don't take their negativity personally Nate... This place and the world -in fact - is full of people who proved the nay sayers wrong! A dr with loads of experience can usually eyeball a situation and give a solid educated guesstimate but again that only comes with years of experience and practice - and even then they are sometimes surprised. Hugs dear boy - you will get through this!!!!

Caregiver to husband Ron. Throat Cancer. Finished 35 radiation treatments on 11/21/04. 8/2/11 small lesion on lower gum, laser Procedure to remove. 3/6/12 Doc. removed another lesion on outside of his neck. Did a skin graft from his chest to replace the skin on his neck. Went to Heaven on 6/24/12.

Metastatic SCC. Stage III. HPV positive with occult primary. N1, no ecs
7/1/11 - L-Selective neck dissection. Tonsillectomy. All clean. No rad, no chemo.
5/29/13 - Found primary
7/3/13 - TORS
7/8/13 - Emergency Surgery/Blood vessel burst in throat
8/9/13 - Peg in
9/3/13 - Radiation starts 30 IMRT, 60gy BOT, 56gy both sides of neck
10/14/13 - Radiation ended!
11/12/13 - PEG out!
